Most appointments last 30 minutes but we also ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled time in order for you to complete paperwork prior to your appointment. Subsequent appointments are 30 minute treatment sessions.

No, a GP referral is not required unless you are seeing the Physiotherapist in relation to

  • Workers compensation claims
  • Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Motor vehicles third party claims (CTP, TAC)
  • Medicare claims

If you are unsure, please check with one of our friendly reception team on booking.

Bring along all relevant items that will assist us in treating you such as:

  • Any referrals or reports related to your condition
  • Recent X-rays, CT, ultrasound or MRI scans related to your condition
  • List of current medications
  • Private health fund card if you have private health extras cover
  • Cash, debit card or credit card
  • For DVA members - DVA card and GP referral
  • For Workcover claims - Current Workcover medical certificate covering the period required for Physiotherapy treatment and specifically requesting Physiotherapy, Claim number if known, Case manager name and contact details
  • For EPC / GP Management Plan patients - EPC / GP Management Plan paperwork (if not already provided to us)
  • Medicare card and debit card for Medicare rebate processing
  • GP and relevant medical specialist details to complete our patient registration form

Yes. Optimum Clinic offers a Bulk Billing service for patients referred by their GP under the Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC plan). However, we perform an eligibility check to confirm that you are entitled to this free Medicare Service. If you are not eligible to be bulk billed, you will be advised prior to your appointment.

Depending on the area of your body requiring treatment, your therapist may ask you to undress to your underwear. If this is the case you will be offered a gown. Otherwise a comfortable shirt and loose pants or shorts are suitable.

Yes, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment if it allows you to feel more comfortable.

Most treatment is gentle and should not cause undue discomfort. If any painful and tender areas require hands on treatment, we will be as gentle as possible and check with you as the treatment is in progress to ensure you are comfortable.

Physiotherapy services are very diverse and can be beneficial for a lot of reasons. Some examples of what we can help you with include - if you:

  • have sustained an injury
  • have swelling, bruising or deformity of a body part
  • are experiencing joint stiffness, pain or ache (particularly if your symptoms have persisted for greater than 3 days)
  • are limping or protecting a limb due to pain
  • are experiencing pins and needles or numbness
  • have limbs that collapse or give way occasionally
  • have postural problems
  • need advice on improving strength, flexibility, balance or fitness
  • need advice on injury prevention or other aspects of musculoskeletal health
  • require treatment for an injury
  • wish to improve your physical performance for sport
  • need treatment and a return to work plan for a work cover claim
  • are planning a return to sport or activity following a prolonged period of inactivity

When it comes to taking care of yourself, it is always better to consult a professional rather than not seek advice.

Yes, but only if related to the injury for which you are currently receiving treatment.

We aim to keep you seeing the same Physiotherapist for the course of your treatment, however if you do need to see another physio, all of your clinical notes are accessible by all practitioners in our clinic. We will also have your regular physiotherapist speak with your new therapist if possible regarding your care.

Yes – however apart from spinal xrays we cannot refer for bulk billed imaging. If bulk billed imaging is required we are happy to contact your GP who should be able to provide you with the referral.

We have HICAPS machines at our main offices at Daintree Medical Centre - if you have private health insurance, bring your card and we will process your private health and you pay the gap left over. Options for gap payment or at our other locations are Cash, EFTPOS, AMEX, Visa or Mastercard.
